These columns have an eleven carbon (C11), aliphatic linker to a terminal cholesterol group bonded with a direct silicon-carbon bond to the silica hydride surface. It is one of our most unique HPLC columns.
The many advanced features of the Cogent UDC - Cholesterol ™ stationary phase produces a very stable and efficient HPLC column that operates in reversed phase (RP), normal phase (NP) and/or aqueous normal phase (ANP) and will solve many difficult separation problems for you.
This phase is more sensitive to temperature and solvent composition than most phases due to the liquid crystal nature of the cholesterol moiety. These parameters are used in shape recognition and can make for very unique selectivity on this very stable and robust column. It is often used to separate steroids from each other.
